My many thanks to Lisa Holley, a descendant of Sylvia's for forwarding this letter to Steve Button and my many thanks to Steve for sending it on to me to publish on our website.

Dear Brother and Sister Button

I have waited some time since I received your letter thinking perhaps I might arrange some way to visit you but I shall be obliged to give it up.
I do want to see Dear Sister Frances once more on this earth but if it is not to be I must be content the Lord knows best - money is very scarce here now and my property is so tied up that I cannot raise money on it but if we both live until a year from this spring I think I will see her. I am still employed in the Pacific Press office I have been here 19 years today and I am getting to be old. I had the grip about 4 years ago and my hair has came out so it sparcely covers my head and it makes a great change in my looks but my health is pretty good for a person of my age. It astonishes me some times when I see what I accomplish but the Lord has been wonderfully good to me. I have no news to write you. We are all pretty well and make out to live comfortable. I think of you all often. Do you know where Leroy and family are and how they are getting along? Am glad to learn you are well off financialy. I have been working all my life so that I might have some thing to live on in my old age, independent of anyone and I am still working to that end. I love my work dearly and shall be sorry when I have to stop if I ever do. My associations are so pleasant here. I am working with about ten girls so you see I have plenty to do my hard work for me. My time is limited so I will say good by. Give love to Leander and family also to your daughter and family. I am anxious to hear from you again. Write soon and let me know how Frances is.
S. Baker
