Rebecca Wing vs Joseph Wing: In the Circuit Court of the County of Pike and State of Illinois, September Term, 1854

The undersigned Master in Chancery reports that Stephen Wing being duly sworn, testified that Joseph Wing is witnesses brother and was married to his present wife, the complainant, about four or five years ago, in the County of Pike and State of Illinois and continued to live with her til the spring of 1853 in said county and that the said complainant now is and has been a resident of said county from the time of said marriage to the present time, and that she has always conducted herself as an affectionate and dutiful wife, that in the spring of 1853 the said, Joseph Wing left home to go to Wisconsin on the business of said witness and was to have returned in two or three weeks but that he has never returned and the only information of him is derived from letters herewith filed marked exhibit A., B., & C., and that said witness from an intimate knowledge of the handwriting of said defendant believes said letters to be in his handwriting and believes that they were written to complainant without her knowledge or connivance all which is respectfully submitted.
