Ananias served in 1676 during King Philips War under Capt. Gorham when the troops suffered so severely. He united with many others in petitioning Gov. Josiah Winslow and the General Court on the subject of a war against the Narragansett Indians. He lost horses in the first expedition to Mount Hope against King Philip. His heirs received, from a grateful government, on 6 June 1733, 110 acres of land in Narragansett Twsp, # 7, now Gorham, ME. Sadly Ananias did not live long enough to share in this tardy expression of gratitude. Lucius B. Wing of Ohio stated that Ananias wives name was Hannah Freeman without offering proof. No Hannah in the Freeman Genealogy fits this family. Their condition was of great concern to her father, Daniel, and to the entire Quaker community to which they belonged. From 1678 to 1680 there are several references in the minutes of the Mens Monthly Meeting to providing A more convenient place for Lydia Hambolton and her children She consistently rejected this offer of removal, but from 1677 through 1683, she did accept shoes, wool, money and food from the women's Monthly Meeting, as recorded in their minutes. John Abbott had 13 acres of land on upper Shawme Pond in Sandwich, 3 acres were granted in 1688 and 10 acres in 1706. This property was called Abbott's Orchard and was granted to John only for his lifetime. The Sandwich Awards Committee took back 10 acres after his death.
