Marriage License for Joseph Smith Wing and Rebecca Pierce Davis in Pike County, Illinois.
June 8, 1848.
Joseph was almost 18 years old and Rebecca was two days shy of being 17 years old.
This was long before Joseph Smith Wing called himself a doctor.
Their marriage would end in a bitter divorce.

PIKE COUNTY, To all who shall see these Presents - GREETING:

KNOW YE, That license and permission is hereby granted to any regular MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL, authorized to marry by the church or society to which he belongs; and JUSTICE of the Supreme Court; JUSTICE of any Inferior Court; or JUSTICE of the Peace, to celebrate and certify the Marriage of Mr. Joseph Wing and Miss. Rebecca P. Davis

now both of this county, according to the usual custom and Laws of the State of Illinois.
