Carrie May Wing, the only child of the union
between Anna Cooper & Norman Allen Wing, never knew her
father, in fact, she grew up believing that he was dead. For his
part, it appears as though he did not ever make an effort to
contact her
We may never know for sure exactly what
happened between Anna Cooper & Norman Allen Wing...There is
no known record of a divorce, or any legal proceedings that give
us a clue to their apparently bitter parting. They were married
on October 31, 1866, Norman was just 20 years old and Anna was
16. Their daughter, Carrie May was born on March 15, 1870.
Anna Cooper Wing went on to marry three more times. Her 2nd marriage was to Jesse Burner, date of birth unknown, died Oct. 1, 1888. Anna & Jesse were married Dec. 28, 1873 at Fulton Co., Illinois' They had 3 children together; Franklin R. Burner born about 1876 Charles Burner, born about 1878 Dora Burner, born about 1879 Anna married for the 3rd time on August 20, 1890 to Albert H. Baker Her 4th marriage was to Joshua Warner on April 2, 1895 at Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa. Joshua died February 25,1900 at Cortland, Nebraska There were no children from marriages 3 & 4. |
