complaint has been filed against him by Re-
ecca Wing in the Circuit Court of Pike coun-
ty Illinois, and that summons has issued thereon
against him, returnable to the next term of said
court, to be holden at the Court House in Pitts-
field, Pike County, Illinois, on the second Mon-
day of September next, A.D. 1854.

Undoubtedly the advertisements for Joseph Smith Wing's return were a part of the legal process that had to be completed before Rebecca Davis Wing could legally file for divorce. Joseph Smith Wing did not return to Illinois to appear in divorce court.
