The only person missing from this family photograph is the oldest son, William Arthur (Bill) Nash Jr., who lived in California when this picture was taken..
Back row, left to right; Irene Nash Parnell Brownlee, Shirley Nash Bailey, Betty Nash Brown, Norma Nash Davidson, Anneta Nash Aubert. Middle row (sitting on the couch); Carol Nash Mason, John Robert Nash, Dorthy Goodpasture Nash, William Arthur Nash and Doris Nash Knight Front row; James Vance (Jim) Nash, Allan Eugene Nash, Janet Nash Pembrooke Bonds. I have been told that the occasion for this photograph was that Bob (John Robert) had come home with the startling news that he had joined the Marines. This picture was taken a day or so before he left. Bob's Marine career was cut short because he was a notorious sleepwalker. More than once he woke the household with his nocturnal ramblings, even to the extent of running around the 6 acres of land that they lived on with his father trotting beside him to guide him in the house safely. Anyone that knew Bob knew of his sleep walking tendencies. Unfortunately, the Marines were not as amused as the family was by Bob's nighttime excursions and he was honorably discharged. |
