This photograph is of Thomas Miller, Mary Nash Miller and thier daughter, Gladys Miller. It was sent to us by George Wayne Nash Jones and his wife, Adrienne...they just recently re-found it and I so appreciate that they passed it along to us.

This photograph is especially poignant when you consider that Mary Nash Miller was probably already pregnant with her second child and that she would die in childbirth. What a lovely young woman she was...and what a beautiful baby Gladys was. Being a mother, we all know that the worst fear is losing a child...we all hope that we will outlive our children. In our own generation we have, with broken hearts, buried sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and step-sons and daughters, and it is a wrenching nightmare that none of us wants to experience. All the more so does it cause my heart to go out to Thomas, Gladys, Mary and Charlotte and her brothers and sister, especially Daniel who seemed to have a closer relationship to Mary than the others. Although it was George Nash who turned out to be the most caring of them all because it seems as though everyone sent him their photos and information...and he alone retained the family memories that we are so gratefully reproducing on this website.

Whatever it was that inbued George Nash with the sensibility to retain and to cherish family history has obviously passed on to his grandson, George Wayne Nash Jones, and we should all be eternally grateful...otherwise this would be a pretty empty website.
