George Nash, son of Jeremiah & Charlotte Miles Nash in the British Army.
George Nash signed up for the service 2 years before his mother, Charlotte Miles Nash, left for Canada, just after they left George was sent to India for 10 years. Apparently George's future wife, Annie Hughes, was not happy about his assignment in India and although she went to the railway station to see him leave, she expressed her displeasure by saying, "Good riddance to bad rubbish." George was 18 years old and Annie was 24 at the time. However, there must not have been anyone else for her but him and when he returned from India ten years later they were married within a few months. Upon his return, George applied for a postion with the Canadian Royal Mounties and was accepted but just before they left for Canada, Annie changed her mind and could not bear to leave Wales so that is where George and Annie remained...he was the only child of Jeremiah and Charlotte's that did remain in the United Kingdom. |
