NASH _ Donald Earl 1921 - 2004 Don, beloved husband of Dorothy, passed away at Rockyview General Hospital on Thursday, June 3, 2004, at the age of 82 years. The youngest son of Ada and Daniel Nash, was born in Auburn, WA, but grew up in Blairmore and Fort McLeod. He served in the Canadian Army with the 31st Alberta Reconnaissance Unit during the Second World War. While in the army, Don met and married Dorothy Staton of New Westminster, B.C. and they settled in Fort McLeod after his army discharge. Don resumed his forty-two years of service with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. While with the bank, they lived in several towns and cities throughout Alberta and northeast British Columbia, finally retiring to Tacoma, WA in 1981. They returned to Canada in 1987 and have lived in Calgary for the past ten years. Don is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; and their four children, Marian Douglas (Walter), Daniel Nash (Tonianne), Margaret (Peggy) Biswanger (Terry) and Bill Nash (Wendy); as well as ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Hillhurst United Church, 1227 Bowness Road N.W., Calgary on Wednesday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 1825 Park Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 3Y6. I found this obituary August 13th, 2004 on the internet. It was located at the Calgary Herald website. When I read it I realized I had inadvertently found yet another piece to the Nash family puzzle. But what a bittersweet discovery. At any rate, I took a couple of days to track down telephone numbers and was rewarded by locating Donald's widow, Dorothy Staton Nash and Donald's daughter, Marion Nash Douglas. They were kind enough to send this photo and to tell me that Donald was born in Auburn, Washington on June 23, 1921, the youngest child of Daniel Miles Nash & Ada Wells Nash. Daniel Nash was in poor health and had been for a long time. When Donald was 3 years old his father, Daniel, died.
