The Nash Family circa 1939

This picture was taken by the Mueller paper that was published by the Mueller Company for it's employees, the article reads;

"This family group, that of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nash, is the largest of any Mueller employee, in so far as our records show. Mr. Nash, who has been employed in the Brass Shop for eighteen years, owns his own home, in addition to raising this healthy lot of boys and girls. The youngest, Janet Louise (in Mrs. Nash's arms), was just three weeks old the day this picture was taken. Reading left to right, back row; Arthur Nash, holding Doris, 19months old; Betty Jane, 17; Mrs. Nash and Janet; Irene, 15. Front row; Billy, 9; Norma Jean, 12; Carol, 21/2; Annetta, 7; Shirley, 5; and in front of Norma Jean is Bobby, age 4.

Inset shows the Nash home, located in the 1000 block, North Oakdale.

Mrs. Nash is a granddaughter of the late J. A. (Jay Bone) Dill, who worked here for thirty years, retiring in 1932. He died in 1939." (This should read, "step-granddaughter late J. A. (Jay Bone) Dill )

Toni's note: Art & Dorothy went on to have 3 more children that were not a part of this picture; Allan Eugene Nash, James Vance Nash & Ruth who was still born.

This was the house in the 1000 block of North Oakdale that housed the 13 people that comprised the Nash family in 1939. Certainly not a palace, but it was home...and home is where the heart is. Art Nash worked hard, as did Dorothy. They raised a fine family of children who went on to raise families of their own.
